(Photo cred: Nicole Murray isn't she amazing!?)
As a child I was taught that when someone points a camera at you, you politely smile and perhaps say “cheese”. This is not necessarily true in New York, and it’s something I am having a hard time adjusting to. No one smiles here. Pictures are about attitude in NYC. The hardest part of this for me is that the core of my personality is just a bubbly, happy little girl who can’t help but smile, even when there isn’t a reason to. I remember being a little kid and practicing my best, biggest, brightest smile in the mirror at home in preparation for picture day at school. Now I feel like I need to go back to that mirror and practice the reverse. Until then I’m going to keep cheesin’.
