Land of Ice

First stop off the red-eye: Iceland's famous Blue Lagoon! We sipped champagne and watched the sun rise over the mossy volcanic rocks...

...and of course, took part in the all-natural Icelandic facials. Vikings had great skin, right?

Reynisfjara black sand Beach near Vik

Skogafoss Waterfall, Suourland, South Iceland

Iceland’s Famous Sólheimasandur Plane Crash

^^ We hiked through that snow (and icy water) to go SWIMMING!

Seljavallalaug is a secret swimming pool at the base of Eyjafjallajökull - it's also the oldest swimming pool in Iceland

(Remember that time on my study abroad where we got stuck taking a train from Southern France to Spain because a volcano in Iceland erupted and filled the sky with ash -- 2010? Yep, same volcano!)

Reykjavik at sunset (aka 4:30pm) taken from the top of Hallgrimskirkja Church

This year the Babe Cave skipped our annual Thanksgiving road trip (see HERE), and decided to do as our pilgrim ancestors did and venture to a foreign land across the pond...  It was truly a magical adventure. We took full advantage of our daily 6 hours of sunlight, and saw as much as we possibly could: waterfalls, geysers, the ocean, volcanos, blizzards, mountains, hot springs, black sand beaches, craters, wild animals ;) and some really darling new friends.

I cannot wait until the day I visit Iceland again (maybe in the summer next time)! Anyone wanna join?

PS - anyone planning a trip to Iceland in the near future? Hit me up! Our itinerary was incredible and I'd love to share!
